Joint Policy Forum at EUBCE 2026: wrap-up

On Friday 22 May, during the European Biomass Conference and Exhibition (EUBCE) in The Hague, the Bin2Bean and bioSOILUTIONS projects, with the support of the FENIX Project EU, successfully organised a joint Policy Forum under the Horizon Europe Mission Soil framework.

The event brought together researchers, policy experts, industry representatives, and Living Lab practitioners to exchange knowledge and experiences on circular bio-waste systems, innovation uptake, and policy development across Europe. The forum attracted strong participation and fostered valuable discussions among stakeholders from different sectors.

Participants explored key findings and results emerging from the Bin2Bean and bioSOILUTIONS projects, including experiences from the Living Labs in Amsterdam and Flanders. These examples highlighted both the opportunities and challenges associated with implementing circular bio-based solutions in real-world environments.

A key highlight of the forum was the presentation and discussion of the Bin2Bean Policy Roadmap and Policy Brief. Through an interactive co-creation session supported by Mentimeter, participants actively shared feedback, identified priorities, and contributed ideas that will help shape the next stages of the roadmap and support future policy actions aimed at promoting sustainable bio-waste management and improving soil health.

The discussions and insights gathered during the session will contribute to strengthening the link between research, practice, and policymaking, supporting the transition towards more circular and resilient bio-based systems across Europe.
