Project Meeting in Amsterdam and Living Lab Visit

On 21 May 2026, partners of the Bin2Bean consortium gathered in Amsterdam to review ongoing activities and coordinate the final steps leading to the project’s closing meeting, which will take place in Coimbra (Portugal) alongside the Soil for Europe Conference on 7–11 September 2026.

The meeting also included a visit to the Amsterdam Living Lab facilities hosted by AMS Institute, where partners attended a live demonstration of the Kitchen Sink Grinder (KSG) system. Developed within the Bin2Bean initiative, the KSG Lab presents an innovative approach to food waste collection and pre-treatment in high-rise buildings.

Participants observed the operation of the grinders, learned about the dedicated transport system requiring minimal water consumption, and explored dewatering technologies aimed at improving urban bio-waste management. The system represents a promising solution for enhancing food waste collection in densely populated cities and supporting the transition towards more circular and sustainable urban environments.

The consortium thanks AMS Institute for hosting the visit and all partners for their continued collaboration and valuable discussions.
