The Bin2Bean project was presented at Mission Soil Week 2025, held on 5-6 November at Aarhus University in Aarhus, Denmark, a major European event dedicated to soil health, sustainable land management, and innovation for the green transition.
As part of the Project Trail, the Bin2Bean team presented the project’s objectives and ongoing achievements, engaging with researchers, stakeholders, and professionals committed to improving soil systems across Europe. Visitors to the trail had the opportunity to explore the work carried out within the Living Labs of Amsterdam, Hamburg, and Egaleo, each serving as an innovation hub where new solutions for biowaste management and circular resource use are being tested and implemented.
Throughout the event, the Project Trail provided a valuable platform to illustrate how Bin2Bean contributes to biowaste valorisation and the development of sustainable soil improvers, highlighting the project’s relevance for the transition toward more resilient urban environments.
Bin2Bean also participated in the breakout session “From soil sealing to regeneration: Business models for sustainable soils in urban and industrial areas”. During this session, the Hamburg business model was presented as an example of an economically, environmentally, and socially sustainable strategy for transforming biowaste into valuable resources for soil improvement.
The active involvement of partners, the hospitality of Aarhus University, and the many constructive exchanges with participating organisations underscored the importance of cooperation and knowledge-sharing in fostering sustainable soil practices across Europe.
More information about the Living Labs is available in the Bin2Bean website.
Event presentations can be accessed through the Mission Soil Week platform.
